Sculptra® is a unique treatment that promotes increased collagen production to improve skin volume. Board-certified facial plastic surgeon Dr. Gregory S. Keller and his team of specialists at Keller Plastic Surgery provide a variety of advanced cosmetic treatments to residents of Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, and nearby communities in Southern California.
What Is Sculptra®?
Sculptra® is a dermal filler that provides gradual, continuous improvements in skin volume and elasticity by triggering increased production of collagen, a substance that supports skin cells at the structural level, increasing fullness and volume, and achieving a natural, gradual reduction in lines and wrinkles.
What benefits does Sculptra® offer?
Sculptra®’s most remarkable benefit is the fact that results appear gradually and naturally as the skin responds to increased production of collagen. Sculptra® gradually improves skin volume and firmness in facial skin damaged by aging and exposure to the elements. Thanks to its uniquely viscous consistency, Sculptra® treatments typically produce longer-lasting results than most other dermal fillers, usually lasting up to two years or more.
Who is an ideal candidate for Sculptra®?
Almost any healthy adult who has fine lines or wrinkles around the forehead, eyes, or mouth may be an ideal candidate for Sculptra®. Sculptra® is also an excellent choice for individuals who want to add volume and fullness to limp, sagging skin without plastic surgery.
How should I prepare for Sculptra®?
While Sculptra® has been proven safe and effective in most patients, and there is little risk of adverse reaction, you must still inform Dr. Keller and his team of any history you may have of allergies and other medical conditions, and let us know if you’ve received any other dermal injections recently. You may need to suspend the use of medications such as blood thinners, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) including ibuprofen and aspirin, as well as avoid cigarettes and alcoholic beverages as you prepare for treatment. You may have to postpone Sculptra® treatments if you currently have any infection, inflammation, acne, rashes, or other irritations in the skin, and reschedule you procedure after the condition passes.
How many Sculptra® treatments will I need to achieve full results?
Although some patients may meet their goal in one treatment, others may require more than one treatment to achieve their desired results.
What kind of results can I expect from Sculptra®?
While the results of your Sculptra® treatment may not be immediately visible, you will see dramatic improvement appear gradually for a period of two years or longer as a consequence of the treatment, as your skin cells are restored by increased collagen production triggered by Sculptra®.
